Rossie Stearns

Class of 2024

Existing in the realm of process heavy abstraction, Rossie’s work is
composed through a combination of traditional modes of painting and material
experimentation. Spontaneity and planned action merge throughout her practice as
she brings together bright and bold colors and a diverse set of texturally rich
materials. The resultant works are visual explorations of tensions between dualities
and their effects on one another.

Born and raised in Austin, Texas, Rossie received her BFA from the
University of Texas at Austin in 2014. Prior to beginning her MFA candidacy with
UConn, she lived in Seattle, Washington, where she worked as a graphic designer
and commercial studio artist while building upon her art practice.
