Lindsey Potoff
Class of 2027
Art & Art History
Lindsey Potoff uses printmaking, papermaking, and bookbinding to investigate memory, solitude, wonder, and time. She is influenced by the Great Lakes surrounding Michigan, where she grew up, and the rivers and waterfalls of Ithaca, New York, where she received her BFA at Cornell University.
Her etchings weave together imagery to create dreamscapes. These include motifs such as: cars driving at night, extending limbs of trees, stars, closeness, hands outstretched, storybook characters, suburbia, and nature. These landscapes examine the ways people connect to each other, understand themselves within nature, and search for warmth. In the urge to “keep” fleeting moments, she finds the center of her art practice.
