Art & Art History

McKayla Mae Bensheimer is an American printmaker and sculptor from the Midwest. She received her BFA in Sculpture from Herron School of Art and Design in 2019. Bensheimer has shown her work in the USA and internationally. Her public works include a collaboration for a walkway mosaic installed at the Elmira Annis Irvington Civic Plaza in Indianapolis, IN.

I am drawn to the stories of humanity. My work is about creating a pictural story of contemporary human life through figural portraiture and sculpture. I am interested in documenting the everyday life and emotions we experience through self-portraits and scenes of my friends.  Color has increasingly become important in my printmaking as well as experimenting with old and new printmaking techniques.
