Kelly Walters is an Assistant Professor of Graphic Design at the University of Connecticut. She is a multimedia designer and curator. Her artistic practice investigates the intersection of black cultural identity, representation, and language in mainstream media. She is also founder of Bright Polka Dot (an independent design studio) focusing on print, digital, pattern and textile design. Kelly has worked as a designer for SFMOMA, the RISD Museum, and Blue State Digital.

Kelly has previously taught at the University of Bridgeport, the Rhode Island School of Design and the University of San Francisco. In 2015, she was awarded an Association of Independent Colleges of Art & Design (AICAD) Post-Graduate Teaching Fellowship at California College of the Arts (CCA) in San Francisco. As a Visiting Fellow in CCA’s Graphic Design program, she taught experimental methods in Interactive Design. 

She graduated from the University of Connecticut with a dual degree in Communication and Communication Design, and received her MFA in Graphic Design from the Rhode Island School of Design.
